You spend months planning your child's birth, and then suddenly they are here in your arms, and you are all sent home. What next? We will dive into the nitty gritty of what the full spectrum of the work of home looks like in the first years of parenthood and how you and your partner can proactively plan so that home labor is shared equitably. We will explore how cultural influences, unconscious bias and unspoken expectations shape how those tasks get "assigned" to different partners, learn about key constructive conversations to have with partners, and explore how tools like Fair Play can help you manage the labor of the home in an intentional and proactive way. This workshop is appropriate for expecting parents and for parents of babies.
Here's What You'll Gain
Unpack Beliefs That Shape How Labor is Divided: Increase understanding of how unconscious bias and unspoken expectations shape how those tasks get "assigned" to different partners
Build a Strong Foundation: Develop a shared language to discuss the labor of parenthood, identify the full scope of labor that comes with child rearing (highlighting the frequently unseen aspects of tasks), and learn how to have constructive conversations with your partner
Explore how to Play Fair with Fair Play: Explore the practical tools and techniques of Fair Play, designed to streamline household management and foster collaboration between partners.
Circle of Security Parenting
Parents often wish their child came with a manual. We may find ourselves asking questions like "Why would my child do that?," "Is there something wrong with them?" or even "Why doesn't my child seem like they like me?" It's not uncommon to feel confused or frustrated by your child's behavior, to feel like you're making it up as you go along, and to question if you're "getting it right?" Circle of Security-Parenting is an educational program based on decades of research that helps parents cut through confusion and get clear on children's development, parents' role in supporting it and how to strengthen it through the parent-child relationship.
In this eight session, 90-minutes per session, group-based class developed for parents of 0-6 year olds, you'll learn how to:
• Understand your child's emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs
• Support your child's ability to successfully manage emotions
• Enhance the development of your child's self esteem
• Honor your innate wisdom and build your confidence as a parent

The Surgeon General recently proclaimed what we’ve all known: the parents are not alright. We are asked to do too much with too few resources and so easily slip into reactive, crisis mode style planning to keep our homes running. I’ve teamed up with a group of local Fair Play facilitators to develop an amazing day of in-person learning so that you can build the skills to run your home in a more intentional, equitable manner, reducing stress and ensuring you have time to care for you. Join us for a day of dynamic discussions and learning in community.
Here's What You'll Gain:
Identifying Common Sticking Points: Understand the typical challenges encountered when implementing the Fair Play Method.
Developing Problem-Solving Skills: Learn techniques to address and resolve specific issues related to the method.
Enhancing Communication: Improve communication skills to foster open and productive conversations about domestic responsibilities.
Building Community Support: Connect with others using the Fair Play Method to share experiences, insights, and encouragement.
